On the morning of February 18th, the naming ceremony for China's first 16,136 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ship (N1071), constructed by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry in Yangzhou for COSCO Shipping Lines, was successfully held at the company's Pier 3. The successful construction of this project marks a new advancement for the COSCO Shipping Group in actively promoting the development of a green, low-carbon, and intelligent fleet.
With a total length of 366 meters and width of 51 meters, this vessel model boasts a maximum container capacity of 16136 TEUs, achieving industry-leading levels in various dimensions such as technological innovation, green and low-carbon operations, and digital intelligence. Thanks to the innovatively designed oversized methanol storage tank, the ship can complete a one-way voyage from the Far East to the West Coast of America in methanol-powered mode, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and providing a new solution for optimizing COSCO Shipping's global shipping routes. Furthermore, with the support of digital intelligent systems, the ship's energy consumption and carbon reduction metrics have been significantly optimized, demonstrating exceptional energy utilization efficiency and setting a new benchmark for energy conservation and emission reduction in the shipping industry.
